Relay attacks on PKES Systems
Abstract
Passive Keyless Entry and Start (PKES) systems have been implemented in the newer generations of automotive vehicles. Such systems enable drivers to unlock and start their cars by simply being in the vehicle's proximity, but they have also been a target of now widely publicized Relay Attacks. These attacks allow car thieves to steal a vehicle with equipment that costs a couple hundred dollars in a matter of seconds. In this talk, we will explore an Impulse Radio Ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) solution for preventing these types of attacks.
